Figure 2 above describes the evolution of the workforce in agriculture from 2009 to 2018 (the last available wave of the EU LFS). It depicts the constant drop in the native workforce and the less than proportional increase in the migrant workforce described earlier. The EU-wide trend is mirrored at the country level (Figure 3). In almost all Member States, the native workforce in agriculture has decreased, and has not been compensated by an inflow of foreign workers.
